About Us

Worship

Our worship combines traditional Hebrew liturgy with joyous music, dance, praise, and in-depth teaching of the Scriptures. Services vary, but every week we recite the Kaddish, and the Shema. Services usually include a reading from the Torah scroll. In all that we do, we seek to combine reverence and tradition with a warm and friendly environment

Holidays

The Torah outlines the Lord’s “Appointed Times,” the yearly cycle of festivals that commemorate God’s relationship with Israel, and look forward to the promise of redemption in Messiah. At Adat Yeshua, we observe these festivals, starting with Shabbat, and including Passover, Shavuot, Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, and Sukkot. We also keep other holidays—Chanukkah, Purim, Tisha B’Av, and Israel Independence Day—and life-cycle events such as B’rit Milah (circumcision), Bar and Bat Mitzvah, and weddings.

Education

Learning is an essential part of our life at Adat Yeshua, with a full educational program for adults and children Shabbat mornings from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.  We regularly offer New Members classes, discipleship groups, and a range of other classes for adults, including beginning and intermediate Hebrew.  At various times during the year we hold special workshops on Jewish culture and history, and Israeli folk dancing.  Inexpensive cassette tapes of the weekly messages are available, and our lending library offers many titles to reinforce the learning experience.

Children's Program

Our children's education coordinator oversees Shabbat classes for ages four through twelve. We provide a nursery for younger children. Children learn about God and his word through stories, games, and activities. Holiday observances are employed as powerful teaching tools. In addition, we have activities for teens and for the whole family, including outings and summer camp-outs.

Prayer

Personal and group prayer are foundational to our life as a congregation. We meet for intercessory prayer every Monday at 6:30 AM at the synagogue. To further strengthen our prayer ministry, we schedule a Men’s and a Women’s Prayer Gathering one Sunday each month, and maintain an intercessory prayer chain.  We also schedule special times of congregational prayer and fasting throughout the year.

Outreach

We desire to share our faith in Yeshua as Messiah and Lord. Events are planned throughout the year to attract and speak to non-members. We welcome all to attend services and learn in a non-pressured setting.  Members are equipped and encouraged to do the work of outreach. Intensive study and discipleship are available for new believers. We also reach out to the Christian community with workshops, teachings, and celebration of the holidays.

Affiliation

Adat Yeshua is one of nearly 200 Messianic congregations in North America, and is affiliated with the Union of Messianic Jewish Congregations (UMJC), a fellowship of about 70 such congregations united for mutual support and service.  We also maintain close contact with a number of Messianic congregations in Israel.  Adat Yeshua is involved locally, in Albuquerque and New Mexico, in issues of concerns to the Jewish and Christian communities.
